Research Scientist - New Materials (Fixed-term, Full-time)
We have an exciting fixed-term opportunity for an experienced Research Scientist to support commercially focused research programmes focusing on adding value to the New Zealand bioresource. Outcomes will have direct impact on the wool sector and other primary producers and will help build new technologies and support new exports based on biopolymer materials derived from keratin, cellulose and other biologicals.
If you’re looking for an opportunity that provides a variety of innovative work, a team-based culture and is part of a company making a difference – this role is for you! This fixed-term opportunity is until September 2026.
You will have proven skills in identifying and working closely with companies to understand their needs, help them identify new opportunities for their resources and then practically deliver projects on time and budget. You will have demonstrated abilities in working collaboratively and being responsive and adaptable to client needs.
Our ideal candidate will have:
- A relevant PhD.
- Experience in chemical laboratories at PhD and postdoctoral level.
- Experience in commercially focused projects, preferable in biopolymers and biological materials.
- Practical, hands on ability in experimental design and execution.
- Sound problem solving skills, with demonstrated creativity.

Lincoln Agritech is a 100% subsidiary of Lincoln University and a registered charity. We are a team of around 80 people. We are based on campus at Lincoln University, 20 km west of Christchurch, New Zealand. Our North Island office is located on the Ruakura Research Campus in Hamilton, New Zealand.
