Rob Kelly

Rob leads Lincoln Agritech’s New Materials science programme, turning protein chemistry and biopolymer science into practical innovations that solve problems and create new opportunities for industry. His work focuses on developing materials that deliver practical and measurable benefits, from new revenue streams to export growth.

With a PhD in Chemistry and 28 years experience in applied keratin research a postdoctoral fellowship in Animal and Food Science, Rob brings deep expertise in development of added value products and protein materials. He has guided R&D teams across New Zealand’s leading science institutes and helped establish was the founding scientist for export businesses built on new material technologies, including Keratec Ltd and Keraplast Technologies Ltd, and is currently co-founder and Chief Scientific Officer at collagen supplements company of Tertiary Extracts Ōtautahi, a women’s health company exporting bioactive peptides from upcycled sheepskins.

Rob is passionate about working alongside industry partners to transform research into solutions that are commercially viable and globally relevant.
