Lachlan has a B Eng (Hons), majoring in mechatronics, and PhD in mechanical engineering from the University of Canterbury. His PhD research focused on the design of a hybrid hand exoskeleton for stroke rehabilitation.
He has taken up a two-year postdoctoral position at LAL as part of the Science for Technological Innovation Biosecurity Technology project, in which he will work on developing sensing technology to detect “the last predator” in remote landscapes.
Lachlan grew up in Invercargill before coming to Christchurch to study. Outside of work he likes to go for hikes around Canterbury and to brew the occasional beer.
