Helen Rutter

BSc, PhD

Helen has worked as a hydrogeologist for more than 30 years, including 16 years with the British Geological Survey in the UK and Botswana, and 16 years with Aqualinc Research Ltd in Christchurch.

She specialises in groundwater and freshwater quality, climate change impacts on water resources, and assessing environmental hazards. At Lincoln Agritech, Helen helps clients and communities protect water resources, applying practical insight to projects on nitrate contamination, drinking‑water safety, and climate resilience.

Helen has served as an expert witness in hearings and court cases, evaluating groundwater quality impacts from industrial activities and land use. She is a Chartered Geologist with the Geological Society of London and a Senior Adjunct Lecturer at the University of Canterbury.
