Simon has a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from Korea and a Graduate Diploma in Laboratory Technology from ARA Institute of Canterbury.
Simon is a core member of Lincoln Agritech’s biotechnology team and has worked on numerous New Zealand government funded research programmes. He is a specialist in molecular biology – from manipulating and modifying DNA and genes to isolating and identifying naturally derived microorganisms.
Some of Simon’s most recent projects have included research in nitrogen-fixing pines and grasses, magnetotactic bacteria for removal of hydrogen sulphide from wine, synthesising nano-particles to create functionalised mulch film, and researching how New Zealand endemic fungi could be used as a biocontrol agent against crop ailments.
