Nick is part of Lincoln Agritech’s New Materials and Biotechnology Group. He holds a BSc in Microbiology from the University of Canterbury and has been with Lincoln Agritech since 2006. His work focuses on using New Zealand’s endemic microbes to promote plant growth and increase crop yield through encouraging soil health, enhancing nutrient uptake, and preventing plant disease.
In his role, Nick collects, cultivates and maintains large collections of beneficial soil-borne and endophytic fungi and bacteria isolates on behalf of various Iwi and New Zealand agricultural and forestry institutions. These collections have been used for regenerating deforested land and minimising fertiliser requirements.
