Armin is the Principal Science Advisor at Lincoln Agritech. Passionate about sensors and digital data, he helped the Precision Agriculture movement across Germany and the EU. As the founding director of ZALF’s Institute of Land Use Systems, they used local ecological data to balance production with environmental objectives. Since joining Lincoln Agritech in 2013, he has been successfully bridging science and industry in digital farming. Naturally, data, sensors, and AI for decision-making have recently culminated in the automation of production with robotics, e.g., providing semi-autonomy for forestry platforms in a partnership with a NZ robot builder. He argues: “These disruptive developments need foresighting in R&D: what could happen, not what will happen.”
Armin has taught Precision Agriculture courses at Lincoln University and serves as an Adjunct Professor there.
